A SHORT BREAK

GYM

Going to gym has gained momentum lately. I have been thinking why such a sudden increase in number of boys going to gym(many girls are also going). The reasons they many say are for timepass or body building or fitness.
This sudden increase in fitness consciousness has lead to a great increase in the number of gyms and health clubs.
One of the most important reason behind this new trend is misbelief among boys that girls are crazy about muscles and six packed body, which is partially true. But just only having a good body have never made a girl fall in love with a guy.Its just like something we get as free while consuming something. But this concept of girls is misinterpreted. A very famous example of this false concept is depicted in the film "Thattathin Marayath" were hero Vinod's friend Abdu describes to him about his "thought to be rival" in love, Imthiyas, having six pack.

And now about the said reasons
1.Timepass-: Ridiculous,i must say cause no gym has a dancing desk or pub or cinema attached to provide timepass nor does the activities there.No game is played. And its easy to recreate the same

PRADESAM MAGAZINE

Before I continue with Manorama Yearbook, I would like to introduce before you "PRADESAM",a tri-monthly published by Vallathol Memorial Library, Pukkattupady.

This magazine which started publication in 2007, has become the tongue of common people of Edathala & Kizhakkambalam panchayaths.

It deals with history of the region, current affairs of the region, science contributions from people of this region, literature works by local people. It also gives vital informations that commons needs to know. Educational field is also included, along with National and International news. News of Demise & wedding of people of this region are also published.

MANORAMA YEARBOOK 2013

Got hand on the new Manorama Yearbook.Articles are related to current affairs but is not up to the mark. Doesn't invoke a desire to read it in a full stretch.

CURRENT AFFAIRS

Current affairs section was not so bad. Top scams were correctly aligned. Controversies also got there relevant news value. Homage was give to Rajesh Khanna,Vilasrao Deshmukh, Varghese Kurian appropriately.

COVER STORY

Cover Story about Corruption was of news value and was also able to create interest in readers by its contents and also by referring relevant figures, statistics, tables etc in its due course.
All the major International news were delt in current affairs while major National & International Events were drawn in the Calender order under Events.

SCIENCE WORLD
Discovery & naming of 5 new elements, discovery that plants communicate with each other, Invention of self balancing unicycle, water chargable cell phones, water proof phones, nano ear that can even hear bacteria, twelve atom memory bit etc were some of the interesting news seen in this section.
Speed of Neutrinos, Higgs-boson's existence, understanding more about Genome and GM crops etc were dealt here.

GEOGRAPHY & SPACE

Sorry to say this section,which I expected to interest me the most failed to do that cause of its repeatation tendency and inclusion of new topics which are too dry.

ENVIRONMENT

This section also had the same problems of the above section, though they managed to include more currently relevant topics here.

HEALTH & MEDICINE
This section was able to cover up all the short comes of previous sections.Not only did it have interesting topics also did it came in amore handy and readable style. Sixth Human taste, Cancer were really informative.Even the old topic of discussion Cyborg were dusted out in an interesting manner.

GETTING STARTED

Dont know what to say. But have to start as this is a new year. I may deal with many wide topics which may interest me ,though I am not an expert in any of them.
